Editorial Reviews

Krishna Das What sets wah! apart is her ability to surrender to the moment … to offer herself to the offering … wanting, in those moments, nothing but love and love alone. November 2006

Yoga Journal Magazine/San Fransisco, CA, Andrea Kowalski Kirtan phenomenon Wah!, who has put out almost a dozen recordings on the Wah! Music label, now has lent her name to a new style of yoga. And she's put the essence of Wah! Yoga down on paper here in her new book. The self-published work, transcribed from her lectures and talks at concerts, serves as an asana practice and self-care manual, an autobiography, and an introduction to chant and yoga wisdom. It's clear early on in the book that Wah! Yoga embraces the philosophies of Anusara Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and Swami Satyananda's Bihar Yoga. The book also includes beautiful line drawings that illustrate her playful take on yogic theories and alignment principles. While the writing is crystal clear, the book is somewhat haphazard in organization—readers may become frustrated with Wah!'s stream-of-consciousness approach to her teaching. Her photographed yoga sequences showcase her strength and dexterity but lack focus as they patch together poses from different traditions. Fans of Wah!'s devotional music, beginning students, and connoisseurs of the sound current will find Dedicating Your Life to Spirit both endearing and inspiring.

Ned Leavitt Literary Agency Wah!'s music captures and captivates but her talks are full of surprises. She pushes edges and explores uncomfortable truths. Her sense of the sacred and the divine are deeply authentic. November 2006

Fan Reviews

Kathleen O'Connell, owner/ Dragonfly Yoga Barn, Sandwich, NH  I thought Wah's yoga class was absolutely perfect...just what was needed. I have had a load of GREAT feedback on it from my regulars who all say “are we going to do some of those exercises in our classes???” They LOVED the waking up of the skin and muscles, and I sooo appreciated the parts on internal organs. I am getting ready to take Cora Wen’s 500 hour YTT, and so much of her teaching is on what’s inside the body and how it all works, how the organs respond to and are affected by everything we do. Your class was a wonderful primer for this, and it also echoed my own teaching in the Yin yoga classes I offer. People really want to “see” their inner landscapes, but they need to be led on that journey inward. You have an amazing gift to teach this. 8/9/2010

Thank you so kindly for your time, energy, teachings and passion you shared with us. I took the yoga class with you at Raven's Wing in CT and really loved and appreciated the time and laughter ~ I really have not laughed like that in a long time... I am enjoying the information provided in your book and continue to be inspired and discover new and creative ways to be with the kids I teach. Growth and Wisdom. Boundless blessings... 3/20/10

The look and layout of the book is beautiful. I was so happy to see you retained the talks, lectures and articles.  I love how much your energy and spirit come through. I have gone thru and re-read those in the manuscript many, many times.  I gifted the other copy to my sister.  She's already on her second read-thru.  And for someone who has yet to experience a class with you, she found the yoga instructions  informative and easy to follow.  (She especially likes the body beats.) 12/2/2006

Tom Woods/Denver, CO Your writings are explicit and non-esoteric; even a first time explorer can easily understand what you mean. GREAT WORK! 12/1/2006

I've recently moved to MD, but lived in LA for over 25 years.  I was able to attend your class at Mukti and was really blown away.  I teach Kundalini, but my personal practice has evolved over the years - integrating elements of Ashtanga, Iyengar, Kripalu and Kundalini. Send me your new book, "Dedicating Your Lift to Spirit"! 11/30/2006

Marlena Rucks/Tower Lakes, IL
I received your book this week and without trying to gush, it is truly an inspiration.  I teach yoga and I know as I read and integrate it, my teaching will become more full.  Thank you for putting this out there and allowing me to be a channel for your light. I am ever so grateful and hope my simple thank you can say enough.  9/9/2006

Joan Carrigan/Nixa, MO  I dove into your book today Dedicating Your Life to Spirit. The material is amazing. Thank you for sharing so much information. You gave your heart and soul to this project and it shows. 7/27/2006

Linda Rose/Frederick MD  I got your book today! "It's my new bible."   Thought I was going to have a  brief look through it then I couldn't put it down! The role playing chapter was so perfectly timed because of something I am going through related to my new job (role) at this children's enrichment center a place geared towards Indigo children. Thank you so very much for guiding me on the right path to clarity. I ab- soul - utely LOVE your  words of wisdom, photographs; yoga asanas, meditations, breathe work, mantra description.  I love every word, picture,  & thought. You are a blessing to all of us earthlings! 7/11/2006
